Enjoy Your Favorite Singers, Bands, MP3 Music and Downloads Online

Category: Music

It’s safe to say that nearly everyone enjoys music in one form or another. It's something that can be seen from an early age right through adulthood. Whether it's pop music, classical, rock, country, hip hop, dance, techno, R&B, Jazz, Reggae or any of a number of other music genres, music is and will forever be hugely popular. Of course music evolves in a similar way to other technologies and one of the ways this can be easily seen is through the rise of the Internet and World Wide Web. Music can be easily distributed online these days in the form of MP3's and downloads, while this has been great for music followers, it has also had negative impacts on the recording industry including the actual bands and singers.

The MP3 format exploded in popularity and allowed for the digital transfer and reproduction of music quickly and efficiently over the Internet. As Internet speeds increased so did the widespread use of illegal downloads and file sharing programs. Young people especially became less inclined to physically purchase CD's and albums, preferring instead to download the artists work without paying for it. This has been a major moral dilemma over the years although things are starting to improve as the popularity of websites such as ITunes increases. These sites allow users to pay for the digital tracks and albums as they please, such a system was a long time in coming and the recording industry didn't do themselves any favors by taking so long to move with the times and embrace innovative technologies.

While the subject of MP3's and online downloads has been hotly debated, there's no denying the benefit the web has had for both popular musicians and lesser known niche artists. While the bigger bands and singers take advantage or their already surging popularity, lesser known groups can use the Internet as a great platform to market themselves. Websites these days can be so much more than static pages, they can offer users the ability to listen to music samples, subscribe to news feeds, participate in online polls, chat to band members in online forums, create their own music, view album artwork and much more. While it's increased the competition among musicians in what was already a fiercely competitive market, it has leveled the playing field to a certain extent and allowed even casual musicians to get their names and music out to the general public.

Another important role the Internet has played in shaping and growing the music world in recent times is through the availability of a near endless supply of music resources. Lyrics are an obvious example, it's not hard to get online, do a quick Google search and find the lyrics to your favorite Chris Brown or Nirvana song. There are also great resources available to those wanting online lessons and help learning their instrument of choice. There are plenty of websites devoted to learning the guitar, piano, violin, saxophone or drums. Everyone from beginners to experts can find step by step tips and advice which will help in their quest to master whatever instrument they play. Youtube is another great tool for those learning an instrument as there is a large number of quality videos designed specifically as training guides. You can even take this one step further and take advantage of something like Skype, which lets you have real time video conversations and lessons with the help of a webcam.

It would have been hard to imagine many of these things 20 years ago. Times have changed and they've changed quickly. CD's are already losing traction and it won't be long before we look at them in the same way as we look at tapes these days. The Internet has opened up many new doors for the music world as well as creating new problems. On the whole it's important that new technologies are embraced and that everyone can benefit from them. Listening to your favorite music will always be one of life’s pleasures and singers, bands and musicians around the world deserve credit for their hard work whether it's in the form of payment, website visitors or concert ticket sales. Get online today and visit one of the many music related websites, listen to samples, comment on new tracks, download songs (hopefully legally) and enjoy the online world of music.
